Overview: 

Join us on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 for an update on legislative and litigation matters related to the the Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF).  This webinar will provide the opportunity for you to find out which issues we will be tackling in the coming year.  This 1-hour webinar is hosted by the FTRF Communications Committee and is open to FTRF members only. 

Presenters:

Theresa Chmara,
General Counsel, Freedom to Read Foundation

Theresa Chmara is an attorney in Washington, DC. She also is the General Counsel of the Freedom to Read Foundation. She is the author of Privacy and Confidentiality Issues: A Guide for Libraries and their Lawyers(ALA 2009). She has been a First Amendment lawyer for over twenty-five years and is a frequent speaker on intellectual freedom issues in libraries.  She is a contributing author for the Intellectual Freedom Manual published by the Office of Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association.


Deborah Caldwell-Stone,
Deputy Director, Freedom to Read Foundation

Deborah Caldwell-Stone is deputy director of the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom.  Before Caldwell-Stone joined the American Library Association in 2000, she practiced appellate law before the state and federal courts in Chicago, Illinois. She also served on the faculty of the ALA-sponsored Lawyers for Libraries and Law for Librarians workshops and is a frequent speaker at library meetings.
