For his vision and pioneering efforts on behalf of the freedom to read
With his inspiration, the Freedom to Read Foundation was established. With his devotion, it has upheld First Amendment values for the benefit of American readers. With his guidance, it has become the library profession’s primary legal defense organization in support of intellectual freedom. Today, we celebrate Alex Allain’s 20 years of tireless, devoted and distinguished service to the Freedom to Read Foundation as its advocate, its first President and its Special Counsel.
