Husband Pleads Guilty to Killing Wife at Ohio LibraryGeorge Kallas was sentenced to at least 23 years in prison after pleading guilty November 2 to aggravated murder for shooting his wife January 20 at the Lorain (Ohio) Public Library, where she worked as a library assistant.Although Kallas, 63, had originally entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, a court psychologist found him competent to stand trial, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported November 4. Lorain County assistant prosecutor Tony Cillo said there was strong evidence against Kallas and described his guilty plea as “the one good thing he could do to give his family some closure.” Kallas was sentenced to 20 years to life, with three additional years for using a firearm, and could be eligible for parole after 23 years.
