Teen Admits Guilt in Car Crash at Columbus LibraryA 15-year-old pleaded guilty February 27 to stealing a Cadillac that slammed into the Livingston branch of the Columbus (Ohio) Metropolitan Library. Independence High School freshman Deon Roberts admitted in Franklin County Juvenile Court that he had stolen the car from an apartment building. Branch Manager Shirley W. Freeman sustained a broken arm and leg injuries in the incident, which occurred February 6.“He admitted to stealing the car that hit the library,” Assistant Prosecutor Katherine Press said in the February 28 Columbus Dispatch. “There are conflicting reports about who was driving.” Theft charges are pending against another teenager, and police are looking for a third youth. Freeman had not returned to work by the end of February. Posted March 3, 2006. |
