E-rate Head Kate Moore
Leaves SLD for Classroom
Kate Moore, president of the Universal Service Administrative Company’s Schools and Libraries Division, which administers the e-rate program, has announced she will resign effective June 11 to enter the teaching profession. “The real impact of the e-rate depends on what happens in the classroom,” said Moore, “and that is where I am headed.”
Moore became head of the division in 1998 following the resignation of Ira Fishman, who had been attacked by Republican senators critical of the Federal Communication Commission’s administration of the program.
SLD director of operations George McDonald, who has been with the division since December 1997, will serve as acting president.
