Dr. Laura Listener Calls for
Anti-Porn Picketing at Libraries

At the end of August, the Web site of radio personality Dr. Laura Schlessinger began displaying a “Call to Action” urging “everyone who can get there to make time on September 18th at 12:00 noon to picket their local library because of their policy to let children access pornography.”

Identified only as D. J. Wood, the letter-writer describes herself as a stay-at-home mother who is “outraged by what I’ve heard from [Dr. Laura] about the ALA and local libraries” that have open-access Internet policies. “It is our responsibility,” Wood writes. “Who is going to do it? The Atheists? The homosexuals? They are the ones propagating this.” The posting does not indicate where Wood intends to picket.

The letter has drawn three supportive postings to the online forum. One decries the Internet policies of the County of Los Angeles Public Library and another vows to alert Baltimore-area residents.
