St. Charles, Mo., Library Staff
Get Raises of Up to 10%

The 263 employees of the St. Charles City-County (Mo.) Library District will receive a 3.5% across-the-board raise beginning July 1, with some employees on the lower end of the salary scale getting increases of 8 to 10%.

Coordinator of finance Richard Schultz told American Libraries that the board implemented the raises June 8 after an extensive salary survey to "bring our pay scales in line with the market." Trustee Debbie Tomich told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch June 15 that the raises were warranted in order to attract competent employees.

The raises were a part of a $8.3-million budget for the eight-branch library system adopted by the board.
